1. The Man Behind Pink-4-Ever
When you think of the term “breast cancer,” it’s natural to associate this frightening term with women.  Men are actually affected by breast cancer more than you think.  Having to watch their grandmother, mother, wife, aunt, sister, daughter or other loved ones battle against breast cancer can take a toll on men emotionally.  John Miller is one of the many males affected by breast cancer.  Losing his oldest sister to breast cancer then having to watch his youngest sister fight for breast cancer survival was tough.
Although Miller is one of the many men affected by breast cancer, he stands out from the rest.  In 2008, Miller decided to take a personal stand against breast cancer and partnered with his sister (5-year breast cancer survivor) Nadia Miller, to create an organization that would educate the community on taking responsibility of their health care and reducing breast cancer disparities in the minority community.
“It’s about getting men and women involved,” says Miller.
Today, Pink-4-Ever has a strong presence in the Indianapolis community through empowerment, education, support and serving as a resource for breast cancer and health care as a whole.  Pink-4-Ever, Inc. offers access to clinical screening services and host various seminars on breast cancer awareness, prevention and breast reconstruction throughout the city of Indianapolis.  You can also find Pink-4-Ever working hard in churches, high schools, colleges and universities, in parades and health fairs to spread breast cancer awareness.
Pink-4-Ever recently became a finalist in the Lester Smith Pink Well Challenge.  The Pink Well Challenge is a fundraiser that offers matching grants to organizations who support or engage in breast cancer research and breast cancer awareness in the United States.  Pink-4-Ever’s biggest goal is to grow and to continue supporting those not only in the Indianapolis community but people all over the United States.  Help Pink-4-Ever reach their goal by donating or voting for Pink-4-Ever HERE.  You can vote everyday and the organization with the most votes on May 15, 2012 will win an additional $50,000!
